I am Baaaaaack.

I didn't realize this blog was still here.

I left blogging back in 2008 when I opened up a Yoga studio as the website and newsletter (okay probably social media, too) became my daily doings.

I sold the studio in December of 2017 and moved to a rural town. I looked into the local school system for work and was given many long term sub jobs. That first year I had a principal who supported me in becoming a Special Education teacher.

So, I got a second Masters degree in 10 short months (thank you Andrew for supporting us during that time) while running a classroom. I have a MA in Teaching with endorsements in K-8 Gen Ed and K-12 SpEd.

I've been in the classroom now for 8 years and am currently teaching at the High School. I work with youth ages 14-22 and love my job. Although, I should've studied Law. I actually think about going back to school sometimes and then I look at our 14 year old son and realize he's growing too fast.

We have 20 chickens and acreage to roam. We live in the most beautiful valley with many days of sunshine and elk or deer outside the door. We cook our meals, we preserve a bounty of fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. We are blessed.

I thought about blogging today when we were laughing to keep from crying at work. The students are tired. Christmas break is coming up and many will miss our safety, food, and presence. I have the best team of para-educators (one who has been with me for 7 years!) and they're like my family. We manage some of the craziest daily happenings and that made me think to share it all somewhere. Maybe I will.

Or, maybe I'll post our food pics. I am highly motivated by good food, fresh air and movement. I'll keep you in the loop.

All roads lead to November-

November has tangled lights, bits of glass, glitter everywhere...

Which leads to a holly jolly good time.

I start working in Seattle next week and am amazed by my ability to forgo SF, Oahu, and Whistler this winter, just so I can commit to a rental space in Ballard. Something in the air lets me know this is exciting, sexy and fun- sharing with soppy Washingtonians!

Tis the season to hook up, that's for sure. My sister and I've signed a sublease till spring and hope to continue all sorts of festivity with like minded people...please join!

Unconditionality

Understand that there is no distinction between the spiritual and the physical, we make that distinction (and many others) for the sake of understanding; though distinctions actually end up clouding the very issue they are meant to clarify. We separate ourselves from ourselves in dualism, we separate ourselves from the source of life (god) in humanism, and we separate ourselves from the universe in materialism.

We pay attention to the particles while within the space are the real powerful influences. We are all separate when we ignore this space, though unified when we realize that we all share the same space. We are

as small as the collection of particles we call our body, we are as large as the space that connects us to each other and to the cosmos. Our universe is 99.99% space, we only see it as solid because, in our world of space-time, we see those particles in 50,000 places at one time.

Of course the writings of the Tao Te Ching relate this very well:

Become totally empty

Quiet the restlessness of the mind

Only then will you witness everything unfolding from emptiness

See all things flourish and dance in endless variation

And once again merge back into perfect emptiness -

Their true repose

Their true nature

Emerging, flourishing, dissolving back again

This is the eternal process of return

Well that was fast! Don't get me wrong, I like speed, however September flew by!
Here I sit on Alki, just this morning I was strolling San Francisco....the weeks before were crazier than imagined and lets be honest, there wasn't much time to imagine anything outside of schedule.

My father marries his girlfriend of 20 years this friday and the party starts tomorrow. One German unites w/another, and as best (wo)man, I've planned a special dish breaking event to start. Everyone keeps asking if I've got my speech planned.....scheisse. I don't have the nerve to admit that I am only one steppin it at a time. Not much projection or reflection, yet.

Which means Yes, I'll start thinking about speech services NOW, and whether it should be all words, maybe some Acro demonstration or even a musical? The guests are in for a real treat- Pappa, you're the best!
