Sunday mornin' church calls, and refreshingly chill, I abide. Riding through SF, I am happy to be out of the desert and onto these plentiful soils, where ye ol'damn fam pursues speed, flight and light amidst the Mission, Ocean Beach, Golden Gate, and the Kabuki Baths- what a day!

Sobriety wasn't so common at Burning Man, however each similarité I saw, I connected with. I was a provider in therapeutics, a witness to laborious men, and a daily Acro & aerial performer...joie vie.

Tis Angela's birthday on this full moon eclipse, Enjoy!

Random acts of kindness fill the air as I stepped on a nail (while running to meditation), and have received non stop goddess goodness since! These AcroYogis fill me with such love & light- I'll be seeing many of 'em at Burning Man, SO our physical acts of unison shall continue.

8/8/08
I love ritual just as I love systems!
Rising each morning to meditate, chant, asana practice, then eat breakfast.
Enjoying each afternoons Thai massage and acroyoga, then lunch.
Engaging in acrobatics and conditioning before dinner.
We sit and relate until night falls, and then we bed.

Almost every day, without variation.

Yeah for the Olympics!

The staff here at Laurel Springs Ranch rule! They make-n-bake scrumptious vegetarian meals, morning, noon & night, w/teas and deserts to boot EVERYDAY!
Livin' large at AcroYoga training, this is nothing like my usual Forrest Yoga discipline.
In Borat's voice: And it's quite nice.

So we train in 2-3 hour blocks, with 1-2 hour breaks in between the four sessions and this 256 acre ranch offers all sorts of hippie fun for us to frolic on! There's horses, goats, chickens, a trampoline, pool, hot tub, huge pond, and of course acro-fucking-baticals. These people are savvy, silly and full of love! Oh yeah, a dance party is part of the daily regime too, phew!

Each night we have Satsang, which basically means story time, or we host special guests like theatre companies, staff appreciation, and other musical, moving, flying events. This video here is what a couple of the trainees created with the words to our "mission statement". It's silly, it's hippie and almost always leads to a dance party jam!

-Special guest Angela joins us today-

-Angela, how has WA been treatin' ya?
-Well Jill, its a pleasure to be here, thanks for having me.

-Yeah, and so, how have you been filling your July '008?
-mmm (hands crossed in front of face), its been productive.

-brief off the record moment-

-(H)ange, is there anything you hope to do before you're off again?
-oh most definitely. There's a few faces I'd like to see, more yoga to share, pretty much deepen the connections I've established, hike more, explore the town from my bike...

-Where you off to next?
-San Francisco to Santa Monica, to Burning Man, to San Francisco.

-Who's your favorite muppet?
-Animal. I have a soft spot for Gonzo, but def Animal. Also that peeping guy is pretty cool.

-Whats your favorite chakra?
-(mumbles to herself) Oh my god. Oh my god. Can I defer that question?

-Whats your favorite male body part?
-Ooooooh, oooooooh. OMG what a toss up- Its really not just one part. I am gonna run a list out-
the look in the eyes, to the hands, to their legs, to the caps. Shit.

-Oh yeah, oh yeah...

-Who's your daddy?
-Muffins.

-Let me just say that it was a pleasure being a guest here. What do you have to say?
-Ange, I'd like to thank you for not second guessing my Q's and so willingly appearing on my blog.

Well, I finished a bike spurt, and am left with two words,
Bizzaro & Lovely.
What lOvely bizzAro activities, we humans do.
Lets be honest, would I want it any other way?
Like a horoscope I recently read, illustrating examples of "paradessence", or paradoxical essence- In it they spoke of how "Ice cream is both innocent and erotic" & "Coffee promises to be both stimulating and relaxing." The Cascade Classic was both giving and receiving, and I am not tormented by such crazy-making contradictions, rather excited with an expanding sense of complex possibilities!
I have good intentions for a bad boy.
I am readily waiting.
I feel wet with fire.
Reality is a dream.

Aaand in case you care as much as I do for how artistically-n-intelligent bicycle boys race, then check out www.mbsef.org/CascadeCyclingClassic/Results/2008/index.cfm

Allsright, I am in WA for two more weeks, and my inspiration for AcroYoga Teacher Training is building- Thanks to the community of l/movers who ENGAGE.
Touch one, tempt all-

Today my energy is quite stealth like. It's like a driving force wrapped in flower petals...

Friday Morn'n was a delight to Jillsef and Aunt Jamima, they woke suddenly, ready to greet the day aaand possibly sparkle a wee bit more delight than usual...

As the afternoon of rousting each other (and then some) set in, they sat in honor of being home bread Americans.
HO!

So many opportunities to sway me from this path. As Ange and I venture outta the Bay, I am aware of my desire to head east before north. Thus, landing me in Gawd's country, Yosemite!
However, YoBe Yoga in Seattle called, and asked if Ange or I could teach this w/e, and being the determined gals we've agreed to be, said "yes". SO, no more stops for climbing, bodywork, biking, dates, or dinner party's b/c we're on Mission Washington.
Yep Yep.
Phew, so we know we've got each other for the next 6 months, and we've agreed to not dump, ditch or kill one other. Come January, well January will come, and so will we.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

oookay. It's been a long weekend. I showed up to Santa Monica, where Angela tired from her month of couch surfing, and so, set us up in this free empty pad (thanks to her client). But after one night without electricity, and hot water (in SM?!), let alone the luxurious sleep sitch, I opted out. Better to stay with friends-

Our friends brought hours of laughter, jumping, flying, stretching, and minor debauchery...A hootinanay of good times, as not-so-strange success underlined our Santa Monican stay!Forrest Yogis unite & share.

Top o'the morning. It's 7am and Big $ B decides we should have shots of Hungarian Unicum before we head off to Seminar. Apparently alcohol aids in release. WHOA, okay dokay.
Buzzin @ 9am. The bodywork vortex.

34 people, means 17 couples, all naked or nearly, w/oil, heat & release. HOTHOTHOT.
Warm up on the front lawn. Chest openers, comfort talk, minor touch...Back in the Bay, its my DAD'S Birthday and Ange & I are at our sister's. YEAH!
Good times keep rolling. So much silly stuff in San Fran, so much momentum to ride to seattle on- So much thanks to Ellen Heed, Dr Vincent Medici, Brian Campbell, Christine Peterson, Christian Pezza, Carlo, Gustavo Coronado, Dr Kineako and my seestar Angela.

PS my jaw's still sore. If you've never had someone work inside your mouth, I suggest you try.

Friday, June 20, 2008

Definitely feeling some sadness as it's time to leave The Bay. Heading to Santa Monica for the next couple of days, I will rejoice in the bodywork seminar, absorb new learning's, and play with Yogis. Then it's up to Washington, which I am resisting. I don't want to spend July there anymore- I love what I have here, old friends, new friends, magical places, elegant opportunities. Surely teaching with Angela will make up for this felt sense of loss, and I have Leavenworth, with all it's cool peeps and climbing, to stoke me. But, I still feel some regret that I am leaving.
Oh well.
Seasons change.
I am on the road for the next five months-
July is only that.
Time & space & movement.

. . . And when we come to the end of mystery,
As to the end of history and romance,
Then will we be a new people?
But will we still have poetry, and will we dance?

MIGHT

We slide lower
to
dance
our awkward dance

conjuring
Urban country-dance,
the depth, elegance, and calm swallows
of our sadness.

As beneath gesticulates,
shapes of shadows and paradise,
the sun and moon pools in one hand.

Words by Sondra Fraleigh are an exploration of the limbic brain, the emotional brain explained in terms of neuroscience and psychiatry. Here we find that emotional maturity is not synonymous with emotional restraint; rather, it grows through love and nurture. The brain's ancient emotional architecture permeates the dance of life. All mammals have developed a capacity for relationships through the limbic system, an aspect of the evolutionary nature of mammals. The open loop of "limbic resonance" and "limbic revision" allows us to bond with our family, with pets, friends, and lovers. It is also the basis for implicit memory, the hazy dance informing bone and gesture, bodily repetition and habit. The limbic system allows us to tune our nature to the larger scheme of nature.

DANCING X

Pick your favorite music.

In the manner of your absorption,
Let it be uncultured.

Resonate its anatomy.

Untransplantable tone
Hijacking language,

Turn it off, and lie down.
Drop down into silence.
X yourself. . . .
Fall into limbo (as you are),
And lose yourself, Xing.

How did history come to acquire
This blind spot
And never find a remedy?

X yourself. . . . Then begin
To pay attention to your breath.
X your name,
And leave behind no documents.

For an answer, one could start with those
Cuts and stitches, those cobbled together
Scars that fit so comfortably.

Now begin- from the the unguessed place
Of non-sense. Let the dance emerge freely
As it will, and follow its path: through
Silence to sound threading back.

The corpus of history in your bones,
The celebrations of the body
Embedded in the world of you.

What sound did you hear?
Remember if you can,
And if you can't, silence the effort.
Resist explanation.

Mythology and religion
Returning the real of your dance
With plenitude.

Repeat and surrender
The fretful framework
Listen to your heart
Move

In tertiary- of nature
Beauty and you.

Let go of questions, of any assessment.
Lift an arm and stand, if you are not
Already standing. Become a little stooped
And stop any eruptive force.

Breath, sigh, and sink your body
Into self-remembering,

Transmuting silence in X
Xpanding.

Also by Fraleigh-

Night Rider

Fierce, she is riding
at dusk in the desert, on
sands that are glowing with pink.

Blood-red, the sun colors her horse
in its pounding, her
robes a swirl in the ink.

How amber her skin on the
blurry horizon, soft as
dew being born.

She is riding on breath in a
pathless land, she is riding
and riding, toward dawn.

The voices of air
and the natural elements
pass her like water in waves.

As over the mystery
she gallops and glides, pausing
to drink and to bathe.

In various shapes
we discern her arriving,
as jackals speak, and they name.

Here, then, the land
without lords, without masters,
just friends of the night and the pain.

I am exhausted and it feels so good.
