MIGHT
We slide lower
to
dance
our awkward dance
conjuring
Urban country-dance,
the depth, elegance, and calm swallows
of our sadness.
As beneath gesticulates,
shapes of shadows and paradise,
the sun and moon pools in one hand.
Words by Sondra Fraleigh are an exploration of the limbic brain, the emotional brain explained in terms of neuroscience and psychiatry. Here we find that emotional maturity is not synonymous with emotional restraint; rather, it grows through love and nurture. The brain's ancient emotional architecture permeates the dance of life. All mammals have developed a capacity for relationships through the limbic system, an aspect of the evolutionary nature of mammals. The open loop of "limbic resonance" and "limbic revision" allows us to bond with our family, with pets, friends, and lovers. It is also the basis for implicit memory, the hazy dance informing bone and gesture, bodily repetition and habit. The limbic system allows us to tune our nature to the larger scheme of nature.
DANCING X
Pick your favorite music.
In the manner of your absorption,
Let it be uncultured.
Resonate its anatomy.
Untransplantable tone
Hijacking language,
Turn it off, and lie down.
Drop down into silence.
X yourself. . . .
Fall into limbo (as you are),
And lose yourself, Xing.
How did history come to acquire
This blind spot
And never find a remedy?
X yourself. . . . Then begin
To pay attention to your breath.
X your name,
And leave behind no documents.
For an answer, one could start with those
Cuts and stitches, those cobbled together
Scars that fit so comfortably.
Now begin- from the the unguessed place
Of non-sense. Let the dance emerge freely
As it will, and follow its path: through
Silence to sound threading back.
The corpus of history in your bones,
The celebrations of the body
Embedded in the world of you.
What sound did you hear?
Remember if you can,
And if you can't, silence the effort.
Resist explanation.
Mythology and religion
Returning the real of your dance
With plenitude.
Repeat and surrender
The fretful framework
Listen to your heart
Move
In tertiary- of nature
Beauty and you.
Let go of questions, of any assessment.
Lift an arm and stand, if you are not
Already standing. Become a little stooped
And stop any eruptive force.
Breath, sigh, and sink your body
Into self-remembering,
Transmuting silence in X
Xpanding.
Also by Fraleigh-
Night Rider
Fierce, she is riding
at dusk in the desert, on
sands that are glowing with pink.
Blood-red, the sun colors her horse
in its pounding, her
robes a swirl in the ink.
How amber her skin on the
blurry horizon, soft as
dew being born.
She is riding on breath in a
pathless land, she is riding
and riding, toward dawn.
The voices of air
and the natural elements
pass her like water in waves.
As over the mystery
she gallops and glides, pausing
to drink and to bathe.
In various shapes
we discern her arriving,
as jackals speak, and they name.
Here, then, the land
without lords, without masters,
just friends of the night and the pain.

Its all about the double bounce!
I learned a lot from jumping with a friend last night- I learned how to absorb the pounce, spring loaded throttle, without bending my knees (too much), nor dropping to my ass in fear. And well, I nearly flew!
Holy shit- double back flips-
Okay, okay, play time is calling, once again.
And a wicked ride-
Speaking of which, I rode up & around Mt Tamalpais yesteryonder...I had the guttural feeling of anxiety as I'd descend more than "planned", in order to get to the top. All went fantastically well though, and today I am riding to Stinson. 'Nother long journey on my horizon.
But first, lets jump.
Then run.
Then ride.
Then it's party time- Good folks are coming over for festivus!!!
Yeeeeeooooooooww. MEOW.

Would a 15 yr old (bike snob) care if I rode one of his bicycles? Specifically the shiny fixed gear? I am dying to try the wheels out.
Speaking of which, what a phenomena it is that the 74 yr young dad (and 60? yr yng mom) support their son in having almost ANY life affirming resource, so long as it keeps their kid off drugs. This is what I've heard, and think it's somewhat creditable. He already plays 3 musical instruments, is a talented surfer/biker/gymnast/skater, and probably quite SMART. Like parents, like child.
This is silly. SO SLEEP I SAY, and dream I must, b/c last night, I woke up at 3am with MLK's "The Urgency of Now" speech and ...

A flat tire stopped me in my tracks, and unwilling to leave this fairyland to drive to a shop, I opted for trail running (didn't even fathom the fixie). I know I'll want to ride tomorrow, and well, I am putting $ on a tubefairy showing up while I sleep, heck, maybe s/he'll even change it!
Anyways, Alio, Lucky-dog and I had a kick ass day. We roamed the hills both sun up and sunset, soaked in the tub- sun up and sun down, jumped every other hour & read intermittently.
More to come. So much more, much less more, b/c less is more, when there's photos galore.

SF looks socked in- suckas.
I am youthful. So, who wants to participate in a trampoline off? I got flips, flops, halts & drops.
Let alone I started practicing handstands, then The Ball rolled out & all balance broke loose!

Read, write, soak up the sun! Phenomenological studies of gravity & delightenment!

All done. I closed a couple aspects of life, and here I sit- At Donnie's!
Where now, I've jumped and flipped, and played till I was gasping for stillness. Is this for real?
Just driving up the Marin Headlands, I was ecstatic with all the people riding their bicycles!
I think I am gonna have the best day of my life tomorrow.
It begins with flossing.
Then yoga.
Followed by seriously good food.
And reading even better books (this is my dream library).
Changing outfits/attitudes/energy,
maybe I'll jump for a wee bit-
Or hang on the rings, trapeze & slackline.
Then onto a goddess given bike ride. But NOT on this-

To the hills, where I'll let my imagination dance, while I breath the Redwoods in and smile at tenacious ppl. Let me say it again, riding bicycles (especially while house sitting at your professors in Mill Valley) is radical. And, I do what I can, stopping to stretch...

Which is how I make friends.
Eventually returning home for dinner and jajajaja

'nother puuurrrrfect day on the horizon.

"I like to live in the sound of water,
in the feel of mountain air. A sharp
reminder hits me: this world is still alive;
it stretches out there shivering toward its own
creation, and I'm a part of it. Even my breathing
enters into an elaborate give-and-take,
this bowing to sun and moon, day or night,
winter, summer, storm, still –- this tranquil
chaos that seems to be going somewhere.
This wilderness with a great peacefulness in it.
This motionless turmoil, this everything dance."
- William Stafford, "Time for Serenity, Anyone?"
from the book *Even in Quiet Places*
Barbara Ehrenreich just wrote a book about ecstatic dance called, Dancing In the Streets, A History of Collective Joy, where she calls for people to:
“reclaim our distinctively human heritage as creatures who generate their own ecstatic pleasures out of music, color, feasting, and dance . . . There is no 'point' to it -- no religious overtones, ideological message, or money to be made -- just the chance, which we need much more of on this crowded planet, to acknowledge the miracle of our simultaneous existence with some sort of celebration."
David Abram reminds us in The Spell of the Sensuous: “The senses are what is most wild in us — capacities that we share, in some manner, not only with other primates but with most other entities in the living landscape, from earthworms to eagles.”

Peaks and Valleys.
Oh joy-
Photo shoots w/makeup, hair and outfit crew.
Leavenworth; to climb w/ex-Yosemite peeps, then "Bike & Brew".
Familiar faces, inspirational places.
I feel like a lady loved.
Outside Love.
Thank You.
I am in Leavy- and well, it feels like home. There's a whole lotta Red here, but there's also climbing, biking, gardening, kayaking, and good friends. Yesterday knocked my socks off;
granite cracks, country dogs, bicycle races, free music & beer...
So much has come forth in the last couple of days, that I am surprised and stoked. Once again enLIGHTenment has been shed and I am absorbing it, ahhhhhhhh.
My gay boy friend arrives tonight & soon enough, we're off to SF. He offered an all expenses paid roadtrip, so long as we pick up his boyfriend in Portland. After that jaunt, Angela, Alison and I are house sitting for my professor (for 10 days), at a beetchin' place on Mt Tamalpais, equipped w/an Olympic sized trampoline, hot tub, and hundreds of miles to ride! Besides the fact that I am a much better yogi than rock climber right now, I am taking part in opportunities that shine. As for today, I'm heading up to the Pearly Gates. Yesterday's laps chewed at my delicate hands, but brought me glorious thoughts, and today, I want aesthetic views! Speaking of views, there were a lot of boys last night and it was fun w/the late night rides, bon fire & boot scootin' dancing!

More on this later- But for now, I gotta say, TODAY IS HUMP DAY!
hump. hump. hump.
To ready, I thought a coffee enema would lighten the internal load, so I embarked on a bath and such (last night), however it backfired and buzzed me wide-eyed awake until 1am. DAMNIT!!
Hence this morning's mantra "damnit, damnit, damnit" while giggling through a hip opening euphoria.
So far an extra hammer gel, and chocolate, helped get it done- A necessary trip to the grocer & some laundry tonight, should put this mid-journey mark juuust right.
Later:
What a coincidence some of the guys/gals expressed their love & appreciation for me on hump day- ahhhhhhh how sweet it is to be appreciated. I maintain a pretty positive attitude through our long hours, let alone, hold space for a lot of people's process. It's all a part of life, and my contribution to the work.
BTW, the NE accent cracks me up, "Chaaatewranga", "dawnwood doowg", etc. Today's afternoon yoga sesh was fast-n-fun, and a mini dance party followed, with a bunch of lovelies inspired by no other than Snoop Dogg & Dr Dre!
PS There sure is a whole lotta nakedness & bodywork here in Rhodie's not-an-Island. We own The Homestead Suites, and would they really kick us out for wall climbing, luggage roller-boarding and naked yoga?

suppllllllements!
"Hey Ange, how many Cliff shots did we have yesterday?"
"ummm, shyiiiit we had two, and a shot block"
"Hey Ange, what was your mantra for yesterdays 4.5 hour practice?"
"motha fucka"
"Did you enjoy the backbends?"
"Did I?! Hoot and holler baby"
I got soul and I am super bad...
Now, this mornings practice involved a 17 pose standing series, supposed to make our legs burn & mind shake, BUT if you're Ange and I, then LUCKY-ducky, b/c we had bicycle boys drive to fuel us. Those blokes ride many a miles, and as Ange said during apex, "What if we were in our 80th mile-" GET IT. And get it I did- w/both feet behind my head, I balanced on my hands.
We're going places. Breakthroughs! Best class of my life today!
Going back for more? Yes ma'am, I am.

okay okay okay.
I ate Bambi two days ago. Apparently she came from the Okanogan Highlands, to Bellevue (where I came across her), and into my belly. This wouldn't be a big deal, except for the FACT that I hadn't ate meat in 18 years! Whoa nelly! Gut bomb. I need to eat something bigger, like bear or bison, to chase that venison outta my system!
I am in Cranston, Rhode Island and the Yoga show is about to get started. This place is whack! No road signs- but donut shops everywhere (coincidental treat when lost), cemeteries a plenty (from the fried sugar?), a funnnny accent, with conservative people (makes for bad jokes), and trees which resemble mini cauliflowers...
I am off to a short 3 hour practice. Then to meet up with my bff, Alison, who happens to be in town for Brown's 10 year reunion. Phew, gimme a kombucha cocktail, I need a break.
The real games begin tomorrow, before dawn!

The sweet success of a plan coming together soothes me.
I just got news that I don't have to go to Greece next month, for AcroYoga training.
Instead, I get to attend the already full, and last TT, in Santa Barbara this August.
The original spicy plan, stands!
Meanwhile, I am pulling my shit together, and flying east to Rhode Island on Thursday-
It'll be 2 wks of the longest, most enduring yoga, I've ever done.
I am not so much anxious, as I am ready, with a "Lets go" attitude.
It's NOT like being at the base of a major climb, and having your partner take 2 more piss breaks while standing there, on the sharp end, ready for takeoff- battling sweaty palms.
But, there is a bit of anxiousness and maybe that's b/c I carry the logistics load on top of needing to show up physically/mentally ready.
Well, to support my R&R in between Yogic stunts, I went to Hood River and tickled my fancy with over a hundred (straight) guys racing bicycles. Ladies were there too, although I wasn't much of a spectator for 'em. There's something about sexy strong bodies, mixed with such intent, topped off with grunting, that gets me hot!
And then the river was there to cool me off. Oh joyous river, fresh and exhilarating, beneficial in so many ways... Our unexpected home stay kicked ass, our friends were generous, and I got a tan! I am stoked that none of my time off tightened my shoulders, or restricted my hammies. Rather, fed me w/social engagements of chillsizzlin fun & laughter!
I salute mother earth, father sky and the sea monsters for Angela's & my new home. Momma helped us huge in providing this Seattle base, and while it's ours, I am satisfied- All around.

Whats to say...
I was in Utah yesterday and though the scenery satisfied my senses, the humans were ugly! No joke, I was peeved by all the ugliness in Salt Lake and wanted to run to the cliffs, where I could scale 'em and then jump off, in the name of liberating sexiness.
Now I am in Colorado and ooooooE, hot action thrills me! Between ppl on bikes, ppl in yoga, and those who fancy climbing, I am destined to get my fill of eye candy and make a date; to return w/Ange to teach Yogadelic workshops.
This w/e's work is relatively "easy" since I am used to a 3am start time. We practice at 5am, teach from 9-12 and then again from 2-5. CorePower Yoga is a beautiful studio...
BTW, i saw two grown humans check their fully assembled bicycles at the airport, with nothing more than blankets bobby pinned around the frame- i tried to take a pic but the camera's batteries were laughing so hard, they used all their juice & died. My camera died from laughter.

Summer Vacation
What is it about those words, which make me feel so ready and available for opportunity? In the last couple a days, I've sat and produced 30some pages of writing aaannd now that it's done- I am smitten to move right along.
So, I am. And, instead of vanoyaging north with Angela and Sebastian, I am cutting east to Denver. Mmmmmmm Yoga in the Rockies! What about climbing in the Rockies? Unfortunately, I am sending my gear up north (ensuring that much needed visit to mom), which intensifies the division between labor & love. Nahhh, that's a lie. There's no separation, though if I could teach Yoga at a world class climbing spot, with mom there to make my sam'miches, then I just might have found The Perfect System.
Leaving my CA nest-n-flock to perch in CO, WA, OR & RI for the rest of May is a bit sad, but new horizons give these wings a chance to fly!
Yogalicious and ready. I am going hunting. Things which spark my carnivorous interest (in no specific order); long trad lines, inversions, gravity surfing, reading for my own damn joy, all things w/bicycles & vaguely enough, making/maintaining/exploring connections.
FLY JILL FLY...
okay, bye-bye.
